They called it an elixir, but it behaved more like a memory refusing to fade. It began as darkness - a black compound meant to devour imperfections - yet when stirred, the void fractured into prisms.

Light bled through the cracks, oil-slick and alive, until the substance began to unmake itself. What remained was neither shadow nor radiance, but a whisper of both. They sealed it in milk glass, believing opacity could contain its hunger for balance. Those who unstopper it swear they hear the soft sound of color dissolving.
